In this ever changing world, the option to have a utility vehicle to meet a wide array of demands is more appealing than ever. Purchasing a vehicle purely as a toy might fit a few, but imagine a functional machine that also packs enough punch for weekend fun! Kawasaki’s motto for the Teryx has been, “Unleash your inner outlaw” and it will do just that. So, when faced with the ultimate showdown between work and play, the Teryx should be your weapon of choice for this duel! When the dust settles and the fun begins, the Kawasaki Teryx will be your Huckleberry.

So what better place to test the Kawasaki Teryx 750 FI 4×4 Sport than in the great Southwest! Where there are miles of wide open places, dusty trails, rugged terrain and scattered old ghost towns. Any outlaw should feel at home here and we put the Teryx through the ringer to see if it did just that.

Our test Teryx Sport is considered as the hot rod of the Kawasaki RUV (Recreation Utility Vehicle) family, but don’t let the Sport badge fool you. This workhorse has a tilting cargo bed that has a 500-pound capacity and its reinforced bed frame offers maximum rigidity for excellent durability. Don’t think the bed is just for hard labor, it also makes for a pretty nice table or seat for tailgating while out on the trail or around the campfire. This feature was very popular, especially around other UTV owners in the gang as they were left standing while I had the luxury to kick back and relax. Another big utility oriented feature that comes standard on the Teryx is the full size 2” receiver hitch. This sounds like a no brainer, but there are other UTV’s on the market that come with a puny 1 1/4” receiver. With the Teryx you can quickly connect any 2” sized hitch that you might have laying around from your car or truck and tow up to 1,300 lbs of sweat equity or even your most prized possession. 1,300 lbs is a significant amount, but at the heart of this trusty steed is a 749cc SOHC, liquid-cooled, four-valve-per-cylinder fuel-injected, 90-degree, four-stroke V-twin engine. This air ingesting, gasoline pumping power plant will give you enough giddy-up-and-go to scoot through the country or pull those hefty loads with ease. Pulling might be one thing, but stopping is another! The dual front 200mm disc brakes are clinched by rigid-mount 27mm twin-piston calipers and provide powerful, fade-free braking. The rear brakes are sealed in an oil-bathed multi-disc system that provides worry free braking in almost any condition. Since the rear brakes are sealed to outside contaminants, there is less maintenance and reliable braking while in the dirt, muck or snow.

Whether you’re talking utility or sport, a solid 4wheel drive system is a must. Kawasaki has done a great job of integrating an adjustable and durable 4 wheel drive system into this platform. There is a conveniently located 4WD switch on the dash for moderate duty. Also, there is a variable front differential lever next to the gear shifter to distribute torque equally to the front wheels for maximum traction. The rear gear case keeps the rear wheels locked and turning together for maximum forward thrust and performance. All of this combined with lightweight alloy wheels, 26” tall Maxxis tires and multi-adjustable gas-charged shocks, make for a smooth ride across a wide array of rough, off-road terrain. The Teryx also boasts 11.6 inches of ground clearance and a width of 58.5 inches. This wide track provides for a stable ride while cornering on uneven terrain, but is still narrow enough to fit in a standard pickup truck bed, a win-win!

Packed to the gills or parked on a hill? Not to worry, the Teryx also comes equipped with a parking brake. You will never yank the gear selector and cringe at the sound of grinding cogs! There is also a safety built into the parking brake when it is engaged. This is a feature that keeps the operator in-tune with the vehicle and extends the life of the parking brake.

Another creature comfort that the Teryx excels in is the seating position. The seating position enables you to clearly see all the obstacles in front, on the side and directly behind. It’s ideal for ingress and egress and there is no wasted time by “crawling” into the vehicle. The seats themselves lack a little if you’re sport oriented, but they do the trick for utility minded folks. Same goes for the non-tilting steering wheel. The fixed position isn’t bad for my 6′1 frame, however it could be awkward for others and should be adjustable in the sport model. Storage is another plus. There is a lot of accessible space in it compared to the competition. The glove box on the passenger side is large, seals well and is easy to reach. The slide-away cup holder is a neat feature as it is centrally located, high up on the dash and can be stowed away when not in use.

The digital display is nicely organized and is easy to read. It’s standard on all models and allows you to keep track of the following vitals:

digital speedometer (mph or kph)

clock

dual trip meters

2WD/4WD indicator

water temperature and fuel-injection warning indicators

digital fuel gauge

hour meter

parking brake indicator

CVT belt warning

neutral and reverse indicators

low oil pressure warning lights

Hopefully, one would never have to lift the hood, but in the event that this is needed, the Teryx will accommodate. A hinged, forward-tilting front hood and headlight assembly make accessing the front of the vehicle a breeze! This makes for effortless access to the radiator and front suspension components for maintenance and suspension tuning. The hood and the rest of the exterior bodywork is constructed of Thermoplastic Olefin, which has a high-gloss finish and is more scratch resistant than polyethylene. So it has utility, sport and looks – a triple threat!

With all these great appointments and features, the Kawasaki Teryx 750 FI 4×4 Sport is well rounded and is worthy of the UTV name that it is synonymous with. It is a true Utility Terrain Vehicle that can be used for work, sport or just plain fun! If all the above features aren’t enough, Kawasaki has an entire lineup of useful accessories that can be purchased on Kawasaki’s website or ordered and installed at your local dealer.

So enough talk, it’s time to see the 2010 Kawasaki Teryx sport in action! Kickback, relax and enjoy the following video in High-Definition clarity:

Kawasaki threw us a curve ball today and released the new 2011 lineup. They usually announce the new models in the fall, but this year they have moved the release up to, well today!

The most notable change to the Teryx is the new Galaxy Silver and red sport edition. Everything else mechanically remains virtually the same.

Meanwhile, Chad and the team will stay safe and sound with the protection of Simpson Racing Products from head to toe.

When asked about the new relationship with Monster Energy Kawasaki, Chad shared with a grin, “Becoming a Monster Athlete is a dream come true, my dream will become the competition’s nightmare.”

With a record 3 major championships in 3 years, Chad’s enthusiasm to steal the 4th championship from all competitors should be nothing to take lightly. Keep a close eye out this season for this Monster Energy Kawasaki Teryx of Chad George. If you don’t hear him coming, it’s because he’s already out front.

We have been waiting for months with anticipation and today Kawasaki has released complete specs, model details and photos of the all new 2010 Kawasaki Teryx.

What’s New for 2010:

A new hinged, forward-tilting front hood enforces aggressive new styling, and allows quick access to the radiator and front suspension components, for easier maintenance and suspension tuning.

New, inset headlights complement the aggressive new styling.

A larger radiator fan helps keep engine temps under control in slow going, and a larger-diameter hose increases coolant flow and overall capacity. The coolant reserve tank was moved under the front cover for easier maintenance.

A new ignition cut-out feature protects the brake system by preventing riding with the parking brake on.

The tilt bed’s frame is engineered with increased rigidity for even greater durability.

Other minor modifications aimed at more efficient production and durability keep the Teryx at the front of the RUV pack.

Information:

To Stay Ahead of the RUV Pack, Keep Moving… Fast!

When it roared onto the scene just a couple of years ago, the Teryx 750 FI 4×4’s smooth and powerful V-twin engine and sport-tuned wide-body chassis launched it immediately to the front of the Recreational Utility Vehicle pack. For 2009, the Teryx got digital fuel injection and a host of other upgrades—and now for 2010, the evolution of this incredibly adaptable vehicle continues: An aggressive new front end with a hinged, forward-tilting hood offers front suspension and cooling system access and eases maintenance. Upgrades to the mighty V-twin’s cooling system enhance long-term reliability, and an even sturdier tilting bed out back provides extra durability. In addition, a host of detail improvements for more efficient production and vehicle longevity are designed to do what Kawasaki has always done: keep the performance high while keeping the bottom line low.

Power, is of course, at the heart of the matter when it comes to a performance machine like the Teryx, and when it comes to power no other RUV can touch this one’s 749cc 90-degree 8-valve V-twin: Not only is this engine plenty powerful, its 90-degree configuration gives it perfect primary balance, for unmatched smoothness at any rpm—and a great exhaust note that sets the Teryx apart from lesser RUVs.

or 2010, upgrades to the engine’s cooling system add even more reliability: The radiator’s cooling fan (which switches on automatically when needed) is now larger and moves a greater volume of air, while a larger-diameter hose allows greater coolant flow, to help keep the engine cool when the going gets slow and rough. Also, the coolant catch tank has been moved to the front of the machine, where it’s easily accessible under the very cool new tilt front end. While you’re under there, it’s easier to inspect and clean the Teryx’s gas-charged preload-adjustable shocks and dual, long A-arm front suspension setup.

The Teryx’s advanced digital fuel-injection system already included functions for automatic altitude compensation, automatic idle adjustment and easy, choke-free starting via a sophisticated array of sensors for inlet air pressure, throttle position, crankshaft position, rpm, water temperature and a vehicle down sensor. For 2010, another function has been added: An ignition cut-out will not allow the Teryx to be ridden away when the parking brake is engaged. That new braking system protection complements the Teryx’s CVT Belt Protection System, which, among other good things, automatically retards ignition timing if the system detects engine operation at high rpm for more than two seconds while the rear wheels are motionless (i.e., the belt is slipping), and warns the rider via a flashing belt warning lamp on the dash.

All that electronically enhanced performance is perfectly packaged within an advanced chassis that’s narrow enough to navigate most trails (and fit in a standard pickup bed), yet wide enough to offer a roomy cab and an excellent ride. The wide-track design frame uses large-diameter, thin-walled tubing to combine tremendous rigidity with light weight. The upper frame adds roll-over protection, and there’s enough room inside to fit two full-sized adults in a comfortable but supportive pair of bucket seats with retractable three-point seat belts.

Once comfortably strapped in, the rider can choose 2WD or 4WD with the flip of a switch, and Kawasaki’s super-efficient continuously variable transmission takes it from there, to practically anywhere you feel like going. A cockpit-adjustable variable front differential control even lets you fine-tune front-end traction.

Features and Benefits

749cc V-twin

Teryx’s liquid-cooled, 749cc SOHC, 4-valve-per-cylinder fuel-injected, 90-degree V-twin engine cranks out class-leading power.

Ample torque output from the oversquare, 85 x 66mm engine with 4-valve heads contributes to the Teryx’s superb acceleration.

The 90° V-Twin configuration offers perfect primary balance, resulting in low engine vibration.

Aluminum cylinders are Electrofusion-plated for light weight, long wear and excellent heat dispersion.

Engine can be started in any gear.

Electronically controlled Kawasaki Engine Brake Control helps to slow the RUV when traversing steep down hills.

The engine is positioned mid-ship, providing optimum front/rear balance.

Ducts located by the cargo bed direct cooling air to the engine, while a heavy-duty liquid-cooling system keeps temperatures under control in the harshest conditions.

Large-capacity radiator is compact and placed high in the chassis for protection against mud and debris; a larger cooling fan increases cooling capacity in slow going.

Engine weight is kept down using many advanced techniques, including carving lightening webs into the crank webs, using rare earth magnets, a small generator and paring excess material wherever possible.

Digital Fuel Injection system

Digital fuel injection enhances throttle response and automatically adjusts for changes in temperature and elevation, for optimum performance in a wide range of environments.

The fuel injection system (controlled by a 32-bit CPU) continually monitors coolant temperature, air intake temperature, throttle position, air intake pressure, vehicle speed and crankshaft angle to automatically meter out the ideal amount of fuel via two 34mm throttle bodies for extremely stable power delivery – regardless of the conditions.

FI systems permits easy engine starting at low temperature and utilizes an Automatic Idle Speed Control and Automatic Fast Idle function to ensure smooth engine warm up.

The high-pressure fuel pump located inside the tank features a unique reservoir chamber at the bottom of the fuel pump to ensure air does not get into the fuel system.

Specific Teryx-sized throttle bodies and revised ignition timing have increased low and mid-range torque as well as improved response at higher rpm.

Ignition mapping when in reverse, combined with low-speed operation and deceleration FI settings, enable the engine to deal with increased moisture when driving in shallow water.

Kawasaki Automatic Power-Drive System CVT

Featuring high and low ranges, plus reverse, this advanced continuously variable transmission provides a very direct feel from the engine and instantaneous acceleration – ideal characteristics for sport riding.

Transmission utilizes a high-grade, super-durable Kevlar-impregnated belt that’s designed to handle the high output of the engine. The drive converter shaft is hard-chrome finished for durability.

The CVT Belt Protection System prevents tire freewheel, improves rock section performance and reduces belt overloading by adding Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) data into the system.

Unnecessary belt wear is minimized with a system that reduces engine speed if the engine operates at high rpm for more than two seconds while the rear wheels are motionless.

A big CVT intake duct, located to keep water and debris out, provides plenty of cooling air to the CVT.

Heat shielding on the exhaust pipe below the intake duct keeps intake temperature down.

Snorkel Air Intake

Voluminous air cleaner box containing an oval filter with lots of surface area feeds the engine plenty of clean air, while keeping intake noise down. Easy maintenance design promotes long engine life.

Selectable Four-wheel-drive / Variable Front Differential Control

Selecting two- or four-wheel-drive is as easy as pressing a switch located on the dash; electrically “selectable” 2WD/4WD system engages instantly.

Limited-slip front differential reduces steering effort under normal four-wheel drive operation, while Variable Front Differential Control permits the rider to distribute torque equally to left and right front wheels for maximum traction via a hand lever located between the seats.

Rear gear case keeps wheels locked and turning together for maximum forward-thrust.

Wide-body Chassis

Large-diameter thin-walled tubular steel frame combines high rigidity, light weight and mid-engine placement – a perfect combination for performance riding.

Tubular cab frame meets SAE J1194, 7.1.1, 7.1.2, 7.4, and 7.5, requirements as a roll-over protective structure. (ROPS)

Sport performance-focused suspension is designed with high-performance driving as its number-one priority.

Wide track helps provide a great ride, but not too wide to fit in a standard pickup truck bed.

Chassis has 11.6 inches of ground clearance strikes a perfect compromise between great, low-CG handling and being able to clear tough off-road obstacles.

Narrow frame concept maximizes the length of the front and rear suspension’s lower A-arms, for excellent road-handling performance and minimal geometry changes throughout the suspension’s travel.

Chassis serves up a near-perfect balance of bump absorption and taut steering.

Sport-focused Suspension

High-performance, single-chamber, preload-adjustable gas-charged Kayaba shocks provide excellent fade-resistant damping performance in the toughest conditions, while providing 7.5 inches of plush, controlled wheel travel.

Independent rear suspension provides the best balance of rider comfort and handling at high speeds, along with 7.5 inches of sport-tuned wheel travel.

The preload-adjustable gas-charged Kayaba rear shocks feature piggy-back reservoirs, further reducing the tendency of oil to froth under hard conditions, and a torsion bar out back helps keep body roll to a minimum.

High-performance Brakes

Dual front 200mm disc brakes gripped by rigid-mounted 27mm twin-piston calipers provide powerful, fade-free braking and solid feel. The discs are tucked inside the wheels, where they’re protected from debris.

Kawasaki’s sealed, oil-bathed multi-disc rear brake system provides maximum stopping power in almost any conditions along with reduced maintenance, thanks to its being completely sealed from outside contaminants.

The sealed rear brake’s compact design contributes to excellent ground clearance.

The new 2010 Mule looks like it got a dose of the juice! The beefier and more capable off-roader is leaps and bounds better in the dirt and in the looks category!

After more than 20 years of service, the Mule name has come to define a whole category of hardworking utility vehicles. For 2010, here’s an entirely new take on everyone’s favorite beast of burden: The Kawasaki Mule™ 610 4×4 XC appears to have been crossbred with Kawasaki’s Teryx™ RUV. Aggressive 26 inch Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 radial tires mounted on 12-inch wheels give it new found off-road ability—and a slew of upgrades designed to complement its suddenly more aggressive nature, infuse the new Mule XC with something it’s never really been known for: This Mule is cool.

The standard Mule 610 4×4 was nearly unstoppable, but the new 4×4 XC takes that a giant step further. Not only do those burly 26 inch Maxxis tires provide a bunch more traction, their greater width increases the Mule’s track by 1.3 inches and their greater height gives the new Mule a full 8.1 inches of ground clearance. To accommodate that new capability, new 1.1 inch longer front and 1.5 inch longer rear suspension help the Mule climb over larger obstacles than ever, while standard skid plates protect vital systems.

To make room for those new tires, the new Mule’s front bumper’s been kicked forward about 1.2 inches, and while they were at it the Mule team added sporty new graphics—also a new, more comfortable seat covered in a more pliable material, and a smaller-diameter sport steering wheel lifted straight from the Kawasaki Teryx™.

In spite of its new capabilities and the fact the XC looks like an entirely new vehicle on the outside, you can rest assured that its legendarily reliable and economical drivetrain remains intact on the inside. A durable, 401cc fan-cooled overhead-valve engine mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) feeds power to all four wheels as needed, and simple, automotive controls mean it couldn’t be much easier to operate. An enrichening system partially opens the throttle for easy engine starts, hot or cold, and the Mule can be started in forward (Hi or Lo) or reverse gear, provided the brake pedal is applied. Select 2WD or 4WD, and away you go.

MacPherson strut front suspension and rack-and-pinion steering combine great bump absorption with light handling, and the Mule’s mid-engine layout and swingarm rear suspension provide great traction at the rear. An upgraded braking system brings it all to a reliable halt.

Fun as it looks, the XC is all about hard work, with a new special black texture paint applied to its 400-pound capacity tilting bed for even greater long-lasting looks and durability, and 1,100-pound towing capacity that means you can bring whatever you need. Dual cup holders keep thirst at bay when you’re on the clock, a capacious glove box can carry more than just gloves, and the front hood pops open to reveal more than 12 gallons-worth of storage. Popular accessories include an enclosed cab, snow plow, winch, and soft or hard tops, available through Kawasaki dealers.

A New Mule for 2010:

New, extra large 26-inch Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 radial tires mounted on12-inch wheels give this Mule utility vehicle newfound off-road skills.

Along with bigger tires comes a 1.3 inch wider track. But this Mule still fits in a full-size pickup truck.

Larger tires also result in 1.5 inches more ground clearance—now 8.1inches—for improved rough terrain capabilities.

Standard skid plates for the front differential, engine and rear diff add protection and greatly reduce the chances of getting hung up on obstacles.

A new seat, covered in new material for more all-weather comfort, provides a better, more secure perch for the driver and passenger.

A repositioned front bumper and exclusive sporty graphics give the XC a bold new look to match its new mission.

A sport steering wheel, lifted from the Teryx RUV, enhances control and appearance.

Longer front and rear suspension arms provide greater off-road performance.

A revised brake pedal ratio, stronger master-cylinder mount and new brake shoes provide increased braking performance.

Stain and scratch-resistant special black texture paint in the cargo bed enhances the whole vehicle’s looks and durability.

Teryx-style tailgate has a simplified release for easy opening and closing.

Fan-Cooled, Single-Cylinder Engine

The Mule’s simple, lightweight 401cc four-stroke single is compact, lightweight and extremely durable.

Overhead valve design provides maximum efficiency, and the Mule’s highly evolved carburetor helps provide excellent fuel economy.

Fan cooling helps the engine maintain an ideal operating temperature.

Cab frame air intake draws clean, uncontaminated air for the engine from the top of the cab.

Raising the exhaust system keeps it high, dry and out of harm’s way.

An oil temperature warning lamp linked to a crankcase sensor helps prevent overheating.

Easy Starting

The choke opens the throttle during starting, so the accelerator pedal does not need to be depressed.

Stepping on the brake pedal allows the engine to be started in gear.

Gear Driven Engine Balancer

A rotating balance weight moves opposite to the piston, dramatically reducing vibration and minimizing noise and wear for increased comfort and reduced fatigue.

Environmentally Friendly Emissions

Carburetor settings reduce exhaust emissions, a good thing for the environment.

Positive crankcase ventilation system recycles blow-by gasses to the intake tract, where they’re burned in the engine.

A USFS-approved spark arrestor in the muffler greatly reduces fire hazard.

California models have a check valve on the fuel tank-to charcoal canister connector hose to prevent gasoline from entering the canister when operating on inclines or over rough terrain.

Kawasaki Automatic Power-Drive System (KAPS)

A simple and lightweight CVT (continuously variable transmission) is fully automatic and keeps engine speed in the most efficient range for any selected vehicle speed, load, or terrain

Fully automatic transmission features selectable 2- or 4-wheel drive.

An open-sided drive pulley cools better for longer belt life.

Belt deflection can easily be adjusted by changing shim thickness of the adjuster bolt located on the outside of the driven converter.

A die-cast aluminum belt converter has high silicon content for compactness and light weight, and offers excellent toughness and durability.

The belt converter case is sealed to keep out contaminants.

A long-wearing ATV-style double cog CVT belt provides long wear and minimal maintenance.

The belt converter’s air cleaner cover uses a clip-type clamp for easier maintenance, and a revised sealing method provides an improved seal.

A maintenance-free sealed bearing unit is used between the front and rear driveshafts.

Dual-Mode Differential

Locked mode provides maximum traction in difficult conditions.

Unlocked mode decreases turning radius and minimizes ground disturbance – great for use on grass.

Rack and Pinion Steering

Ackerman rack-and-pinion steering provides precise, accurate handling and a small turning radius that facilitates working in tight quarters.

Rack and pinion system is durable, simple, easy to maintain and helps reduce tire wear.

MacPherson Strut Independent Front Suspension

Long-travel front suspension serves up a comfortable ride, excellent load-carrying capability and excellent terrainability.

Simple, rugged single A-arm design provides a tight turning radius for extra maneuverability.

Unit Swingarm Rear Suspension

Unique design places engine and rear wheels on a sub-frame with a mid-point pivot which isolates vibration for a smooth ride.

Mule 610 4×4 XC’s long-travel rear end can handle heavy loads, yet provides a comfortable ride with an empty cargo bed.

Chassis

The front grille includes space for mounting a 3000-pound capacitywinch

Compact, lightweight, and easy to transport to the job, the Mule fits in the bed of a full-sized pickup.

Durable plastic body panels resist dents, and the Mule 610 4×4 XC’s Super Black finish is molded in for long lasting good looks.

Safety Equipment

Fully meets SAE Roll Over Protective Structure (ROPS) requirements for wheeled tractors under SAE J1194, 7.1.1, 7.1.2, 7.4, and 7.5, and FMVSS 216.

Two seat belts enhance safety.

Speed limited to 25 mph keeps the Mule well within its performance envelope.

Ample Storage

The front hood opens up to reveal 12.6 gallons of sealed storage space.

A steel cargo bed covered in non-slip paint can carry up to 400 pounds, and tilts for maintenance and cleaning.

A Teryx-style tailgate with simplified release mechanisms makes loading and unloading easy.

Simple Maintenance

The United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) has been searching for a tough, agile, tactical vehicle. From run of the mill utility vehicles all the way up to mega-dollar custom fabricated equipment, there was no shortage of contenders for the job. Following extensive research and numerous evaluation sessions, they decided to go with Kawasaki’s 2009 Teryx™ Recreation Utility Vehicle (RUV). After providing units to the military in June of 2008, Shannon Tracy, owner of UV Country Kawasaki a Veteran woman owned small business located in Houston, Tex., immediately recognized the Teryx’s excellent chance of winning any military competition where toughness, light weight, speed and agility were a factor.

In January, she replied to a new SOCOM bid request, with a proposal for UV Country to provide a large quantity of Kawasaki Teryx RUVs over a multi-year period.

Tracy’s efforts paid off, quite handsomely. After the final round of evaluations, SOCOM chose the 2009 Kawasaki Teryx 750 FI 4×4 RUV, awarding the contract, worth up to $28,390,453 to UV Country. UV Country is now scheduled to deliver up to 1,625 units on a five year indefinite delivery / indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract. “We’ve fulfilled several smaller GSA and Texas state contracts in the past, but this new Special Forces project is our largest contract by far.” says Tracy. “It provides a great boost to our business, lends extra credibility to the Teryx and assists all Kawasaki dealers by capitalizing on its outstanding performance. If it’s good enough for the SOCOM environment, then it must be capable of handling whatever American hunters and outdoor enthusiasts can throw at it. This is a real win-win situation for everyone,” concluded Tracy.

Powered by a fuel-injected 750cc V-twin engine, Kawasaki’s popular Teryx 750 FI 4×4 RUV offers side-by-side seating for two adults, a roll over protective structure (ROPS), front discs and a special sealed rear brake, four wheel independent suspension, a tilting cargo bed with 500 pounds of carrying capacity and the ability to tow up to 1,300 pounds.

Riverside, CA, (5/14/2009)- The Pro Armor Kawasaki Teryx Built by Side X Side Outfitterz finishes third this weekend at the Blue Water Grand Prix and takes the season points lead. Under extreme temperatures this past weekend in Parker, AZ and a late afternoon start time of 3:30pm, the race called for six laps at 10 miles each. The plan for the team was to take it nice and easy in the early part of the race. With a traditional Grand Prix start, 16 UTVs side by side would make for some interesting racing action as they all headed for the first corner. “We knew we had a fast car and could run in the front of the pack, so we made sure we had a clean start and worked our way to the front of the pack” said driver Mike Lasher. After the first corner the team was in the 12th spot. Starting in the back made for some intense dust and gave them a slower first lap. By the time the first lap was completed the team had already moved into 5th place.

As the laps continued to count down and competitors began to have problems, the Pro Armor Teryx continued on its pace and battled the 10 mile course that was getting rougher and rougher with each lap. Running at an average of only 29mph, this race showed how slow the pace was given the conditions. The Blue Water Grand Prix put on by Best in the Desert had an outstanding variety of terrain to travel through. The team battled silt beds, rocks, water, mud, gravel, sand, steep ridges, and even had to navigate through an old house that was part of the racecourse. The CST Performance +3″ long travel kit and Fox Racing Shox really made a nice addition in the tight confines of the house as other vehicles were taking out walls due to their width. The suspension was able to soak up the rough terrain of the Parker desert without missing a beat allowing the team to run in the front of the pack all day.

When the dust cleared the Pro Armor Teryx had moved into third position and was one of only 4 cars to complete all 6 laps. Finishing in the third position at the Blue Water Grand Prix, moved the team into the first position in the season points standings and also opened up the biggest lead of the year.

The next race on the schedule for the team is the Best in the Desert Vegas to Reno “the long way” which will be 1000 miles spread out over three days in the Nevada desert August 20-22, 2009.
