The adventure of a lifetime could be taking your Side X Side across the desert with a destination of the Grand Canyon. Plush accommodations in a ranch style house, or sleep under the stars in a covered wagon. Food that will fill your stomachs and make you want more. Take a helicopter ride down into the Grand Canyon, and then jump back into your Side X Side and drive across the desert all over again in an amazing three day trip.

Wally Wallace, owner of Side X Side Outfitterz who has 35 years of desert racing experience and has ridden a dirt bike across America, has explored the trails and developed ultimate adventures that you can do with your SXS. “This Grand Canyon tour has been done on a few different occasions, but the Spring colors will be amazing this time of year,” said Wally.

The adventure starts with you preparing your Side X Side for a 375 mile ride into the desert. Preparation is the key to this adventure, but the reward will last you forever. Wally will be the tour guide in front and there will be a sweep vehicle in the back, with communications between.

Side X Side Outfitterz also offers other Adventures to Calico, Lauglin, Primm, Havasu, Colorado and Moab.

The RhinoForums.net sponsored race team competed in their second desert race for the 2010 season on March 13th in Prescott Valley, Arizona. The race was held at the Prescott Valley Fairgrounds. Racers were excited to have a new venue and race track in Arizona’s high country. The race track layout was in the infield of a one mile long horse track. The desert course layout had very fast straights, and some tricky, rutted, off-camber corners making it exciting for racers, and spectators alike.

Brian Bush and Co-Driver Greg Frantz brought out the Lonestar Racing, RhinoForums.net, and Rotax Your Rhino sponsored racer. They placed second in the first Whiplash race of the season in the Pro-Mod class at Speedworld in February. Supposedly, there was a lot of talk with the race organizers and racers as to why they were allowed to run in the Pro-Mod class which allows ANY UTV to run that has under 1000cc’s. Brian and Greg thought they were matched up fairly with other racers in this class, as their Rotax powered Rhino makes no more power than a built Teryx or RZR do. Sounds fair right? Wrong!

The team was bumped into the “Unlimited UTV” class which caters to street bike powered UTV’s. The reason given was that the race organizers “got a bunch of complaints” about the team being able to run in Pro-Mod, even though that’s the class that best accommodates them, and there’s nothing in the rule book that would disqualify them from participating in this class.

The team was a bit concerned with being able to compete with the street bike powered cars, but without argument, they suited up and gave them their best.

The racers lined up at the start/finish line and were to run a 45 minute stint. All UTV class’ would run together as to save time and keep things exciting for the spectators. The green flag dropped and the racers were off into a track that some had never even had a practice lap on. The RhinoForums team soon found themselves in the roost of rocks and dirt of Brandon Simms R1 Rhino, Bobby Rabers CBR 600 powered trophy cart, and some other very quick UTV’s. The first few laps were a bit nerve racking for the two, as their visibility was relatively non existent and they had no idea where the track was leading them. After the race leaders spread out a bit, the team found themselves a nice groove and started working on cutting faster and faster lap times. They ran for about 20 minutes battling closely with other cars (mostly Pro-Mod). Every lap seemed to get much faster and even though Brian was pushing the car as hard as he could, they couldn’t gain any ground on the cars in their class. In fact, they were about to be lapped by Brandon Simms in his R1 Rhino about the time that 3 of the 4 rear wheel studs on one wheel broke off! At the time, they thought they had a flat. Brian limped the car into the pits where Bob Nolan of AZ Amsoil was waiting with a jack and a spare tire.

The team was disappointed by having a failure cost them time, but were excited to get back out on the track to finish the race. After being up in the air for about 10 seconds waiting for a spare to be installed, Bob leaned into the car and gave them the “shut it down” motion and informed the two that the wheel studs had broken off.

It’s never fun to have a part failure cost you a race or cause a DNF, but the team took the bad luck in stride, and were happy to have been there, and had a great time running on the new track. Parts break, failures happen, it’s racing! They’ll be back out racing on April 24th at Firebird Raceway in Chandler, AZ and hope to be back in the class they started the season in.

Congratulations to all the UTV racers who came out and raced that day!

Due to popular demand, ITP has added a platinum finish option to its SS212 alloy wheel line. Previously available only in the 15-inch size, this rich platinum finish is now available for the 12- and 14-inch SS212 as well. Two coats of paint plus a coat of gloss clear coat makes this platinum finish as durable as it is attractive.

This one-piece wheel, with a distinctively muscular style, is available in a 12×7 size, as well as unique 14×6 and 14×8 sizes designed specifically for front and rear applications, respectively. These dedicated sizes provide more precise fitment and make the most of 26- and 27-inch radial tire performance on most late-model 4×4 sport/utility ATVs as well as many side-by-side UTV applications. The 14-inch models are a great choice for UTVs, as they carry an 800 lb. load rating (12-inch ATV models are rated at 700 lbs.)!

Like all SS Alloy wheels, the SS212 comes standard with a custom SS wheel cap and is manufactured through ITP’s high-tech Advancecast process, resulting in an incredibly strong yet light final product. ITP is so confident of the SS212’s durability, in fact, that it’s covered by a lifetime structural warranty: if you bend or break it, ITP will replace it!

Since 1982, ITP has grown into the world’s #1 ATV aftermarket tire and wheel source, and continues to provide a complete line of innovative tires and wheel for virtually all ATVs and UTVs. To order, contact your favorite distributor. For a copy of ITP’s full-color product catalog, call toll-free: 1-800-859-4740. For other inquiries or technical advice, contact ITP at 930-A S. Rockefeller Ave., Ontario, CA 91761; (909) 390-1905.

The latest edition to the RevArc line of ramps is the new RevArc HD (Heavy Duty) designed to load large Side by Sides into a truck or trailer. With a 2100 lb capacity, 64” wide, and 90” long, this ramp can work with Rhinos, RZR’s, Gators, and Argos. At 48 lbs, the lightweight design can easily be positioned and handled by anyone, and it slips under a UTV for easy storage.

Keith Evans of Bosski explains, “RevArc HD is an innovative hybrid ramp. It features the performance of an arched ramp with the stability and safety of a tri-fold ramp”. Because it is simple to use, consumers rarely have to second guess whether the ramp is lined up with the UTV. Just position the ramp, lock the single strap, and load with confidence. RevArc HD is so innovative it was recognized as one of the top powersports products of the year. Bosski revolutionized the ATV-pull-behind-cart market with their ATV Wagon, and now they are doing it in the ramp market with RevArc.

“Everyone loves Bi-fold ramps, now imagine the convenience of an arched folding ramp- that’s RevArc”, says Evans. “Nobody does anything like this and sales are strong”. Reports indicate the RevArc dealer base has gone from 20 to now over 250 dealers in the past 12 months. Kurt’s Polaris, which has 3 stores, offers RevArc. “It’s a better product- better pricing than anything else we sell,” says Wiley of Kurts.

Also new from Bosski in 2010 is updated packaging on the entire ramp line and the new Lifetime Warranty. “Consumers want a better product at a great price, so we are giving them extra piece of mind with a Lifetime Warranty”, says Evans. Should the ramp ever malfunction from defects in workmanship or materials, Bosski will repair or replace it. Finally, a quality Point of Purchase is placed on every ramp with large 18” x 20” packaging.

Powersports dealers need to continue to find new ways to differentiate themselves from the “big box” and discount stores; RevArc ramps are distinctly unique and offered only in the powersports industry direct from Bosski.

RevArc HD retails at $299 and can be found at quality dealers across the US.

The RhinoForums.net sponsored race Rhino made it’s desert racing debut last weekend at Speedworld in Surprise Az. Driven by Brian Bush, and co-driver Greg Frantz, the team was able to pull off a second place finish in the Pro-Mod UTV class after having had a wheel failure ( A rock stuck between the inner rim and rear spindle machined the wheel into two pieces ) leaving them with roughly 8 miles to run on a flat tire. Having made the decision not to carry a spare, Brian was forced to drop Greg off in the pit area and complete another 1.5 laps, while Greg raced back to their pits for a spare and tools. Brian was met in the desert by Greg and forum member Karl, with a spare tire and the necessary tools to replace the broken wheel. With a new tire back on the car, Brian continued on himself for the last 20 minutes of the race and was able to hang on to second place.

Congratulations to the RhinoForums race team and everyone else who raced that day!

Why did Powersports Business select UTV Tech’s new RZR Lockable Cargo Box as one of the first 25 Nifty Fifty winners at the Dealer Expo held in Indianapolis in February? Could it be its innovative design that creates 4.8 cubic feet of space that holds almost twice as much as competing boxes? On a recent ride in the desert in Glamis, California the UTV Tech RZR Cargo Box started out with a cooler with ice and six 20-oz bottles, food, spare drive belts and a tool bag, As the day warmed up six jackets and six sweatshirts were added and there was room to spare. On another trip there was room for two sleeping bags, two foam pads, four-person dome tent, cooler, clothes and rain gear for two people.

The Lockable Cargo Box is a must-see winner that is made of 0.090 aircraft grade aluminum, attaches to the bed using the stock tie-down D rings, powder coated black, compatible to the RZR and the RZR-S, weighs 32 pounds, does not interfere with your line of sight through your rear-view mirror, and above all else you have a place to lock your valuables.

MSRP $495.00

Dimensions: 39″ wide x 22″ deep x 17.75″ tall

Storage capacity: 4.8 cu. ft.

Lid is an over center design complete with water and dust gasket

lockable T Handle latch with key

Mounts using stock bed tie down hardware

Chad George, in his FUNCO built factory-backed Kawasaki Teryx, wrapped up his 3rd consecutive UTV championship, as the young racer claimed 5 wins, 8 podium finishes and 5 pole positions during the 2009 Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series!

The season finally at Primm Motorsports Complex in Primm, Nevada was tense as the UTV Modified championship was still undecided. Leading the points race, the FUNCO team knew they had to create some breathing room in front of the fierce competition. Saturday’s round went as planned with Chad racing his #624 FUNCO built Kawasaki Teryx to the top, for his 5th season win. Saturday’s win meant Chad could race the season’s final race conservatively, placing 7th and securing the 2009 Lucas Oil Off-Road Championship.

When Chad was asked about this year’s success he exclaimed “The FUNCO built Kawasaki Teryx was phenomenal all year! My team had the answer for every track and I raced as hard as I could. The rougher the tracks got, the more fun I had because our FUNCO/King Shocks suspension and C&G Performance motor package were amazing! I can’t thank everyone enough for their support this year, it’s been a crazy year, and here we are, Champions!”

An enthusiastic FUNCO Team Manger, Grant George stated “It’s a great feeling knowing that your team was the best over a long season of hard racing, and doing so with formidable competition. Kawasaki has the baddest UTV on the market! Our race program is top notch and we wouldn’t be here without our awesome partners.”

Bruce Stjernstrom. Director of Marketing, Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. exclaimed, “Combining Kawasaki’s successful racing heritage, FUNCO’s proven track record on four wheels and the Kawasaki Teryx 750 FI 4×4 has provided championship results from the first race. Funco’s performance has been very impressive!”

“Beard Seats congratulates FUNCO Motorsports and Chad George for their championship win in the Lucas Oil Off-road racing series. Determination, teamwork and great racing are terrific FUNCO qualities and Beard Seats is PROUD to be associated with this strong team. We look forward to a successful future relationship with the FUNCO Team.” – Koronis Parts, Inc,, Todd Froelich – National Sales Manager.

Chad George and FUNCO would like to thank and congratulate everyone involved with this 2009 Lucas Oil Off-Road Championship including: Kawasaki Teryx, C&G Performance, Side X Side Action Magazine, Beard Seats, Muzzys, King Shocks, PWR Radiators, Simpson Safety, and Dalton Clutches.

Once we realized the quality and affordability of the Discovery UTVs were an important factor in their success, we focused on adding more versatile models. DIAMO now offers a UTV model that will tackle about any job in any environment.”

In addition to the new UTV models, Precision has also strengthened the current DIAMO 500cc and 700cc XLT models with several upgrades and improvements for 2010. For 2010 DIAMO is offering a new SE Edition XLT with Brushed Metallic Silver Paint and Sport Aluminum Alloy wheels. Dealers in the Powersports industry have been asking for an affordable, reliable, and versatile utility terrain vehicle. Precision Powersports soundly responded to this request with the introduction of the new line of DIAMO UTV vehicles that were designed and built with performance, quality, comfort, and affordability in mind. Precision has found a winning combination for the Side by Side market with the new Crew Cab and Sport UTV models. DIAMO offers advantages that dealers can benefit from in a competitive market by providing a full line up of UTV models with a best in class one year parts and labor warranty coverage.

The Diamo Discovery XLT-C 700cc Crew Cab

Ever since DIAMO first introduced the Discovery Series UTV line, dealers have been asking when a Crew Cab version would be available. The Crew Cab has bench seating providing more space for up to 5 riders. The Crew Cab is perfect for farming, hunting, and construction work or simply to get more people to the destination in the most enjoyable way possible.

The new Crew Cab UTV has all the features and benefits of the standard Discovery UTV such as 1250lb towing capacity, 750lb cargo capacity, push button electronic 2WD-4WD selection with differential lock, High-Low gear selector with reverse, 12v dash plug-in and all the safety features you come to expect from DIAMO.

The Diamo Discovery SX 800cc Sport UTV

The Discovery SX is the most powerful vehicle DIAMO offers. While most UTVs are built for work the SX model was built for fun. The V-Twin Engine with EFI provides 30% more horsepower so the SX model can reach a top speed up to 60mph. The sport suspension package provides an exhilarating ride. The SX provides unbeatable power and acceleration. The narrow width and compact sport design make the SX trail capable allowing it to go where most UTVs can’t. The safety features of the Discovery UTV give you the confidence to go places.

All Discovery UTVs can be used for long excursions without having to return to the pump, thanks to the UTVs 7.6 gallon gas tank. The Discovery UTVs comes with a long list of optional accessories that include (roof, windshield, CD player, center console, full enclosures, winch, snow plow, upgraded wheels, hitch and more). The Discovery Series UTVs are equipped with hydraulic disc brakes on both the front and rear to provide plenty of stopping power, even with a full load. The Independent Suspension on all four wheels provides a smooth comfortable ride no matter the terrain. With both a low and a high gear, the Discovery off road vehicles are extremely versatile. Shift them into low gear and they can descend steep areas with confidence or pull cargo up a sharp incline. In high gear, they provide a smooth, comfortable ride with more fuel efficiency. The Discovery Series UTVs are truly versatile, dependable vehicles that will get the job done.

None of their kits are released to the public without hours and hours of vigorous testing in the rocks, desert, and dunes just like you intend to use it. Not only this, HCR Racing custom tunes every shock package in-house to make sure the shock valving and spring rates are perfectly mated to the UTV it’s designed for. This is the key to why their long travel kits offer the best ride quality in the business..
