We first saw a quick preview of Arctic Cat’s rumored sport side by side back in April with a quick youtube video leak. The green machine sported looks of a very aggressive UTV that would surely rival the likes of a Polaris RZR or Can-am Commander. Fast forward a few months later and another picture leaked of the rumored Wildcat UTV claiming victory on top of the sand dunes. Although possibly a photochop, the teaser image showed a very clean shot of the front and had many of us yearning for more.

This weekend Arctic Cat has officially confirmed the new side by side dubbed the WildCat with a new sign up landing page. We can soon expect more details, photos, videos, pricing and most important actual SPECS! The page also notes that the more sign-ups they receive, the more information will be unveiled. So do all us a favor and head directly over there and sign up by following this link: Arctic Cat Wildact Email Sign-Ups

The latest rumors suggest dealer pre-orders could begin as early as August 2nd. Who’s ready to place their order?!

The second generation Yoshimura Peripheral Interface Module (PIM-2) offers riders a simple and effective method of tuning their fuel delivery systems to get the most out of today’s fuel injected machines. When combined with the DATA Box accessory, the PIM-2 becomes a powerful and cost-effective method of creating custom fuel maps without the need for an expensive custom dyno tune. The PIM-2 has an excellent track record of performance and durability, and is now available for the 2010 Kawasaki Teryx 750.

The PIM-2 is simple to install: simply mount the unit using the included mounting hardware, plug it into the stock wiring harness, choose one of the two preloaded fuel maps, and you’re done! The two included maps are designed for use with a Yoshimura Slip-on exhaust or Full System, but there are additional maps available for download on the Yoshimura website.

For the ultimate in fuel-map customization, just add a Yoshimura DATA Box accessory. This data acquisition kit automatically calculates the required air/fuel adjustments required at each RPM/throttle position to reach the user-defined target ratio, then it generates an optimized custom fuel map for the PIM-2. Translated, that means you’ll get great power and throttle response at every RPM and throttle position, without spending all of your time and money on an expensive dyno session.

Both the PIM-2 and DATA Box accessories include all of the necessary mounting hardware and easy to follow instructions for a quick install. Installation of the DATA Box may require some modification of the exhaust system to receive the included oxygen sensor.

The Jagged X / Polaris racing 1919 RANGER RZR kicked off the second half of the Best in the Desert series with a convincing win at the Vegas to Reno race this past weekend. The No. 1919, piloted by Brandon Schueler, finished more than three hours in front of second place and was one of only five of the ten starters to finish the 534-mile race.

The Jagged X RANGER RZR left the line at 6:36 a.m. in eighth position out of the ten starters present. All of the competition looked strong through the first couple of pits but Brandon began moving up in the pack and was running in first position by the time they rolled through pit five. Jagged X’s prep work paid off with only one little tire leak through the entire race.

This marks the fourth consecutive finish and win of the Vegas to Reno race for Polaris, Brandon Schueler and the No. 1919 Jagged X RANGER RZR.

Next race is the Bluewater Desert Challenge, in Parker, AZ, Oct. 15-17.

Jagged X is sponsored by Polaris Industries, Mountain States Contracting, Elka Suspension, CR Designs, S&S Off Road, Simpson Products, ATL Fuel Systems, Tire Balls, MTA, Vision X Off Road, OMF Performance, Affordable Powder Coat, Robby Gordon Off Road, Trophy Engineering, Fullbore Innovations.

The RhinoForums.net sponsored race team competed in their second desert race for the 2010 season on March 13th in Prescott Valley, Arizona. The race was held at the Prescott Valley Fairgrounds. Racers were excited to have a new venue and race track in Arizona’s high country. The race track layout was in the infield of a one mile long horse track. The desert course layout had very fast straights, and some tricky, rutted, off-camber corners making it exciting for racers, and spectators alike.

Brian Bush and Co-Driver Greg Frantz brought out the Lonestar Racing, RhinoForums.net, and Rotax Your Rhino sponsored racer. They placed second in the first Whiplash race of the season in the Pro-Mod class at Speedworld in February. Supposedly, there was a lot of talk with the race organizers and racers as to why they were allowed to run in the Pro-Mod class which allows ANY UTV to run that has under 1000cc’s. Brian and Greg thought they were matched up fairly with other racers in this class, as their Rotax powered Rhino makes no more power than a built Teryx or RZR do. Sounds fair right? Wrong!

The team was bumped into the “Unlimited UTV” class which caters to street bike powered UTV’s. The reason given was that the race organizers “got a bunch of complaints” about the team being able to run in Pro-Mod, even though that’s the class that best accommodates them, and there’s nothing in the rule book that would disqualify them from participating in this class.

The team was a bit concerned with being able to compete with the street bike powered cars, but without argument, they suited up and gave them their best.

The racers lined up at the start/finish line and were to run a 45 minute stint. All UTV class’ would run together as to save time and keep things exciting for the spectators. The green flag dropped and the racers were off into a track that some had never even had a practice lap on. The RhinoForums team soon found themselves in the roost of rocks and dirt of Brandon Simms R1 Rhino, Bobby Rabers CBR 600 powered trophy cart, and some other very quick UTV’s. The first few laps were a bit nerve racking for the two, as their visibility was relatively non existent and they had no idea where the track was leading them. After the race leaders spread out a bit, the team found themselves a nice groove and started working on cutting faster and faster lap times. They ran for about 20 minutes battling closely with other cars (mostly Pro-Mod). Every lap seemed to get much faster and even though Brian was pushing the car as hard as he could, they couldn’t gain any ground on the cars in their class. In fact, they were about to be lapped by Brandon Simms in his R1 Rhino about the time that 3 of the 4 rear wheel studs on one wheel broke off! At the time, they thought they had a flat. Brian limped the car into the pits where Bob Nolan of AZ Amsoil was waiting with a jack and a spare tire.

The team was disappointed by having a failure cost them time, but were excited to get back out on the track to finish the race. After being up in the air for about 10 seconds waiting for a spare to be installed, Bob leaned into the car and gave them the “shut it down” motion and informed the two that the wheel studs had broken off.

It’s never fun to have a part failure cost you a race or cause a DNF, but the team took the bad luck in stride, and were happy to have been there, and had a great time running on the new track. Parts break, failures happen, it’s racing! They’ll be back out racing on April 24th at Firebird Raceway in Chandler, AZ and hope to be back in the class they started the season in.

Congratulations to all the UTV racers who came out and raced that day!

Due to popular demand, ITP has added a platinum finish option to its SS212 alloy wheel line. Previously available only in the 15-inch size, this rich platinum finish is now available for the 12- and 14-inch SS212 as well. Two coats of paint plus a coat of gloss clear coat makes this platinum finish as durable as it is attractive.

This one-piece wheel, with a distinctively muscular style, is available in a 12×7 size, as well as unique 14×6 and 14×8 sizes designed specifically for front and rear applications, respectively. These dedicated sizes provide more precise fitment and make the most of 26- and 27-inch radial tire performance on most late-model 4×4 sport/utility ATVs as well as many side-by-side UTV applications. The 14-inch models are a great choice for UTVs, as they carry an 800 lb. load rating (12-inch ATV models are rated at 700 lbs.)!

Like all SS Alloy wheels, the SS212 comes standard with a custom SS wheel cap and is manufactured through ITP’s high-tech Advancecast process, resulting in an incredibly strong yet light final product. ITP is so confident of the SS212’s durability, in fact, that it’s covered by a lifetime structural warranty: if you bend or break it, ITP will replace it!

Since 1982, ITP has grown into the world’s #1 ATV aftermarket tire and wheel source, and continues to provide a complete line of innovative tires and wheel for virtually all ATVs and UTVs. To order, contact your favorite distributor. For a copy of ITP’s full-color product catalog, call toll-free: 1-800-859-4740. For other inquiries or technical advice, contact ITP at 930-A S. Rockefeller Ave., Ontario, CA 91761; (909) 390-1905.
The latest edition to the RevArc line of ramps is the new RevArc HD (Heavy Duty) designed to load large Side by Sides into a truck or trailer. With a 2100 lb capacity, 64” wide, and 90” long, this ramp can work with Rhinos, RZR’s, Gators, and Argos. At 48 lbs, the lightweight design can easily be positioned and handled by anyone, and it slips under a UTV for easy storage.

Keith Evans of Bosski explains, “RevArc HD is an innovative hybrid ramp. It features the performance of an arched ramp with the stability and safety of a tri-fold ramp”. Because it is simple to use, consumers rarely have to second guess whether the ramp is lined up with the UTV. Just position the ramp, lock the single strap, and load with confidence. RevArc HD is so innovative it was recognized as one of the top powersports products of the year. Bosski revolutionized the ATV-pull-behind-cart market with their ATV Wagon, and now they are doing it in the ramp market with RevArc.

“Everyone loves Bi-fold ramps, now imagine the convenience of an arched folding ramp- that’s RevArc”, says Evans. “Nobody does anything like this and sales are strong”. Reports indicate the RevArc dealer base has gone from 20 to now over 250 dealers in the past 12 months. Kurt’s Polaris, which has 3 stores, offers RevArc. “It’s a better product- better pricing than anything else we sell,” says Wiley of Kurts.

Also new from Bosski in 2010 is updated packaging on the entire ramp line and the new Lifetime Warranty. “Consumers want a better product at a great price, so we are giving them extra piece of mind with a Lifetime Warranty”, says Evans. Should the ramp ever malfunction from defects in workmanship or materials, Bosski will repair or replace it. Finally, a quality Point of Purchase is placed on every ramp with large 18” x 20” packaging.

Powersports dealers need to continue to find new ways to differentiate themselves from the “big box” and discount stores; RevArc ramps are distinctly unique and offered only in the powersports industry direct from Bosski.

RevArc HD retails at $299 and can be found at quality dealers across the US.

The RhinoForums.net sponsored race Rhino made it’s desert racing debut last weekend at Speedworld in Surprise Az. Driven by Brian Bush, and co-driver Greg Frantz, the team was able to pull off a second place finish in the Pro-Mod UTV class after having had a wheel failure ( A rock stuck between the inner rim and rear spindle machined the wheel into two pieces ) leaving them with roughly 8 miles to run on a flat tire. Having made the decision not to carry a spare, Brian was forced to drop Greg off in the pit area and complete another 1.5 laps, while Greg raced back to their pits for a spare and tools. Brian was met in the desert by Greg and forum member Karl, with a spare tire and the necessary tools to replace the broken wheel. With a new tire back on the car, Brian continued on himself for the last 20 minutes of the race and was able to hang on to second place.

Congratulations to the RhinoForums race team and everyone else who raced that day!

Why did Powersports Business select UTV Tech’s new RZR Lockable Cargo Box as one of the first 25 Nifty Fifty winners at the Dealer Expo held in Indianapolis in February? Could it be its innovative design that creates 4.8 cubic feet of space that holds almost twice as much as competing boxes? On a recent ride in the desert in Glamis, California the UTV Tech RZR Cargo Box started out with a cooler with ice and six 20-oz bottles, food, spare drive belts and a tool bag, As the day warmed up six jackets and six sweatshirts were added and there was room to spare. On another trip there was room for two sleeping bags, two foam pads, four-person dome tent, cooler, clothes and rain gear for two people.

The Lockable Cargo Box is a must-see winner that is made of 0.090 aircraft grade aluminum, attaches to the bed using the stock tie-down D rings, powder coated black, compatible to the RZR and the RZR-S, weighs 32 pounds, does not interfere with your line of sight through your rear-view mirror, and above all else you have a place to lock your valuables.
