Polaris has announced updates to its Ranger lineup of side-by-side vehicles for 2025, which includes mechanical and tech changes along with the addition of a new trim and reintroduction of a past one as well. The headlines here are an upgraded transmission, additional factory-installed accessories, revised styling, an available JBL sound system, upgraded power steering, and more. It’s not an all-new model, but there’s a lot here to dissect with the overhauled UTV.

Polaris has unveiled its latest additions to the RANGER family. On the appearance front, Polaris restyled the front bumper for added durability, which also plays to the notion that this is a refreshed model and not an all-new, completely redesigned machine.

Model-specific changes are present, as well. This starts with the XP 1000 and XP 1000 NorthStar. These rugged machines boast a striking new look upfront, with upgraded bumpers and grilles for added durability. They also now come equipped with 29-inch tires, providing an extra inch of ground clearance. XP 1000 NorthStar Ultimate models take things up a notch with factory-installed JBL audio while Premium and XP 1000 models come with a roof and a Polaris HD 4,500-pound winch with synthetic rope, autostop, and wireless remote.

Moving to the cab, Polaris redesigned the door nets with a convenient single-latch connection for easier entry and exit. The brand upgraded the electric power steering system unit for “enhanced control and responsiveness, particularly at low speeds,” which is a good thing. New accessories like an upper front bumper and JBL audio upgrade kits are on the horizon as well.

Tech is a highlight, too, with the XP 1000 NorthStar Ultimate touting a 7” RIDE COMMAND display, which includes GPS mapping tech, a backup camera, and more. Also of note is that the RANGER CREW XP 1000 Waterfowl Edition returns for 2025, a model geared towards hunters. It comes equipped with 29-inch Pro Armor Mud XC tires and arched A-Arms, as well as a high-mount winch and high-mount intake.

Perhaps even more interesting than returning models and upgraded styling comes by way of the transmission upgrades. The new Gen 2 transmission is still a CVT that uses a rubber belt, but Polaris states it has reworked it to reduce shifting effort up to 50 percent which allows for easier, smoother, and more consistent shifting. Polaris notes that all of these upgrades to the Ranger 1000 also apply to the Ranger XP 1000.

As far as trims go, there’s a plethora of options from the Ranger line, all with their own special features:
