‘Tis the season for giving and that’s just what the members of RZRForums.net did! James aka trailblazer took it upon himself to start a thread over at RZRForums.net to raise money for those in need this holiday season and he managed to raise approximately $1,300 in just a few days! Jim aka im4seven, heard about a local family that had tragically lost their home just days before Christmas:

Saratoga resident Ralph Petruzzo, landlord of the Victorian-style Corinth home ruined by Thursday’s CORINTH — A fire on Thursday evening left a family new to the region homeless a week before Christmas.
The fire, which started in a chimney on the first floor of a single-family home and spread to the second floor, broke out at around 7 p.m. Thursday. Corinth Fire Chief Andy Kelly said the department found heavy smoke when it arrived at the South Main Street home, and that the fire broke loose some time later. The Victorian-style home, located at 605 Main St. and likely constructed in the 1930s, was rented by a family who moved in on Dec. 1. Although all four family members and two dogs were home when the fire broke out, all four were able to evacuate safely. The family of four includes two children, ages 9 years and 20 months. Ralph Petruzzo, who owns the building, said he felt badly for the family.

“I just feel a loss for these people. It’s difficult, and let’s not forget the fact that it’s Christmas,” he said. “They made the house a home — these weren’t renters with just a few clothes, they moved all their worldly possession in.” Petruzzo, who owns a waste disposal company, said the building had been in his family for 35 years, originally occupied by his parents. He said the structure would likely be a total loss. Still, he credited the Corinth Fire Department and other responding agencies for salvaging as much of the structure as they could.

“If it wasn’t for the fire department, this building would be lying on its side,” he said. The family’s patriarch is in the Navy, just starting a three-year term in the Capital District. “It’s a difficult time for everybody, but we’re getting clothing for them, and trying to find some housing,” Petruzzo said. “The Navy is being very supportive.” On Friday, the family met with officials at the Adirondack-Saratoga Chapter of the American Red Cross, who are offering aid to the family. Eileen Reardon, executive director, noted that this is the sixth fire in the region since Dec. 1, and the Red Cross is seeking donations to support fire victims.

After hearing about the family’s loss just before the Christmas Holiday and their situation, the members got together and decided to donate all the funds to their cause! Thanks to everyone over at RZRForums.net for their donations and an even bigger thanks to James and Jim for making all of this possible!
